Buying HP J3680 Officejet All-in-One Printer

So the printer is great except for one thing. The only way to scan and photocopy items is by feeding them through the printer, this means that it is impossible to photocopy a page from a book or from a notebook without physically ripping the page out. As a student, this is a total bummer to me. Other than that, I haven't used all the tools like the fax yet but it seems to be working well. My other issue is that installing it to my laptop was a huge pain. My laptop kept trying to automatically install the hardware but it couldn't locate the info from the internet, then when I tried to install through the disc it kept giving me problems.
